Riley

Two weeks to OTJ

Official date of OTJ: September 11, 2016

Riley was diagnosed with diabetes August 26, 2016 after a routine blood test with an initial blood glucose reading of 579 and prescribed Prozinc and I started monitoring his blood glucose a few days later after learning how to prick his ear and what blood glucose numbers to look for and then he was weaned off his dry food carefully and his dosing scales for insulin were re-adjusted from what the vet had originally prescribed by Rosemary on this wonderful forum. His last dose of insulin was September 11th and I am so proud of how quickly Riley was able to produce his own insulin again in his pancreas. If I had not come to this life saving forum, I would be talking about Riley’s memory instead of his recovery! Bless all of you lovely animal lovers and let’s continue to raise awareness for our sugar babies and following a protocol on how to feed them the correct food and snacks, when to feed them, what signs to watch out for in hypo/hyperglycemia and the actions needed to combat it, reading carbs on food, measuring blood samples and restoring youth and vigor in our kitties! 15 and a half year old Riley now acts like a kitten again and is solidly built. Good luck to all of you out there I know that you can help combat Feline diabetes!
